After years of striving to make a meaningful impact, Goliad Technologies, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, will officially cease operations in 2025. This decision comes after much deliberation and is the result of ongoing organizational and financial challenges that have hindered our ability to sustain and grow our mission.
While this marks the end of our journey as an organization, we want to assure our partners, supporters, and stakeholders that operations will continue uninterrupted until we formally close our doors. All current commitments will be honored, and we remain steadfast in fulfilling our obligations to the best of our ability during this transition period.
Leadership Challenges: A Critical Barrier
One of the most significant issues we have faced is a shortage of individuals willing to step into organizational leadership roles. Non-profits thrive on the passion and dedication of their leaders, and our inability to recruit enough board members and fill key positions has been a persistent challenge.
Strong leadership is vital for making strategic decisions, building partnerships, and ensuring the long-term viability of an organization. Despite our best efforts, these gaps have hampered our ability to plan effectively and instill confidence in our partners and supporters.
Struggles with Organizational Stability
Another hurdle has been maintaining organizational stability. A notable example of this challenge is our stalled collaboration with the Calkin Internet Trust. This trust had intended to transfer a significant portion of its historical internet archives to Goliad Technologies, a move that could have greatly enriched our mission. Unfortunately, our organizational instability has delayed this transfer indefinitely, representing a missed opportunity that underscores our broader struggles.
Stability is the bedrock of trust, especially for a 501(c)(3) organization. Without it, even the most promising collaborations can falter. This has been a hard but important lesson for us.
Continuing Operations and Honoring Commitments
Although Goliad Technologies will wind down operations by 2025, we remain committed to honoring all current projects and partnerships until that time. Our team will continue working diligently to fulfill our obligations, ensuring a smooth transition for all stakeholders.
We deeply value the trust and support we have received from our community over the years. From collaborators and donors to the many individuals who believed in our vision, your contributions have been the driving force behind everything we’ve achieved.
A Legacy to Build On
The decision to close our doors is not one we take lightly, but it comes with the hope that the lessons learned from our journey will benefit others in the non-profit and technology sectors. Leadership, stability, and unwavering commitment are crucial to turning big ideas into lasting impact.
As we look to the future, we encourage others to carry forward the spirit of innovation and preservation that defined Goliad Technologies. Though our organization will not be part of that future, the ideals we’ve championed will live on through those who continue this work.
Thank you for being part of our story. We are committed to finishing this chapter with integrity, ensuring that Goliad Technologies leaves a legacy of commitment and purpose.
